The Grand Mosque from our breakfast table |
After a train ride and a couple of plane rides we ended up in Abu Dhabi at 4am Swedish time or 7am local time. Thankfully the sun was shining and we had had a short nap or three on the plane so we were ready to hit the city. Our first stop was the Shangri-La Hotel as The other Spaz’s rubbish internet research told her that there was a large market next door. Lets just say that there is NO better place in the world to have breakfast. The food was amazing, the view was amazing and did we say the food was amazing :-)
We looked around the small shop like market, then headed into the city center to look around another market before we found another market to waste some time in. After sitting by the water in the shade for an hour or two we made our way to the grand Mosque in the late afternoon. The Mosque was indeed grand but it was also tacky, very tacky, way tooooooo tacky for The other Spaz and that is really saying something.
