Bath, United Kingdon

So there was a mission set out early in October of 2012 ... to see the Rosetta stone. This meant that we had to go to London and that we had to catch up with the Bobster. Our mission blew out to a roadtrip, whooo hoooo WE ALL LOVE a roadtrip. Bath was to be the destination for a weekend of rest, fun and mischief.

Hello Ladies
So us 4 Ozzie ladies were reunited, in London, well Charlton but lets call it London :-) After a lovely meal of dumplings prepared by the host with most (thanks Stevie) we succumbed to sleep. Breakfast did prove to be interesting and I was able to demonstrate why I am called spaz. So we looked for a toaster to toast my 'little bit of crumpet' but were unsuccessful. So with the combined efforts of 2 Ph.Ds it was decided we could use the oven grill. Great, oven got hot, crumpet went in and in the process of pulling the kitchen apart for a second time ... this time looking for a plate to put the said crumpet on once toasted, the toaster was found, Hooray! In removing the crumpet from the oven my finger caught the element and as expected, the element was a tad warm and I was burnt. To prove that spaz is indeed my real name I then demonstrated that microwaving honey for a minute is a great way to make it very runny. It ran all over the crumpet, the plate, the table, the floor and my poor burnt finger :-(

Chimney pots - my nana would have loved this
Nana would have been in her element .. LOOK chimney pots
What is this misfit trying to do?
Impatient people ....
Bath is lovely little city. The pubs do great food, the people are really friendly and nice and the history is easy to digest and I have lived in Sweden too long as the UK was really cheap. We hit the Roman baths at 4pm, perfect timing as we had them to ourselves and we got to enjoy watching the sunset and the sky and water change colour. I had my hopes dashed there ... as the audio commentary was by my all time favorite author, Bill Bryson, and it was really DULL however the kids commentary was awesome, the goat went eeek when its throat was cut (awesome kids commentary).  Drinks and dinner were fab and our discussion in the cab on the way back to the hotel did entertain the cabbie ;-O

We walked past all of the required sights and then I dragged one misfit to a certain house in Bath. I will let you think about what was discovered in the backyard of this address.
what was dicovered here?
Back in London we wandered and roamed in the morning. There was some great street art to be seen and then we made our way to the British museum to achieve our objective. Tick!
Tick - mission accomplished

God Jul

Merry Christmas

Christmas was a lovely time spent with Spaz's family. We all come together at the family house to help decorate the tree, cook, eat and share some good old fashioned quality time together. There were games played and Swedish classics such as Kalle Anka watched.
Half of the food options available, mmmm sooo good!
There was a lovely 10cm of snowfall overnight which resulted in us spending Julafton morning out on the pulka or toboggans.
Deer footprints
Ice fishing

Sunset :-)
Tomten was very very generous. We were all very good during the last year

Return to Winter

All good things must come to an end and so did our holiday and mini reunion with family and friends. It was a harsh reality when we landed in Brussels to find that we had a ‘retarde or cancelled’ plane and couldn’t get to Copenhagen thus were NOT going to be able to get the train to Sweden. It may snow every winter in Europe but the first real snow falls still shock them and things come to a halt.

Never a good thing at an airport - retarde plane
We realized quickly that we weren’t in Australia anymore when we looked out the train window, pretty but cool, good-bye to warm sun and hello to chilly snow.

Winter wonderland

Signs only seen in Australia

Single lane each way ... 130km
An important reminder

Shorter than they used to be
Have a new highest rating ... catastrophic
Thankfully we had no suicidal cyclists as roadkill
Seriously?? we are 400km from the nearest red light
